223 Lb Teen Gives Up Fad Dieting—Reveals What 2 Yrs Of Fitness Does For Your Body.

It’s easy to push off making big, sweeping life changes to “tomorrow” or “after the weekend” or “never.” Wait…

But after looking at the scale and feeling disappointed one too many times, Esbeidy Barrera knew there was no longer room for procrastination. It was now or never. At 223 pounds, the teenager had been unhappy with how she felt and looked for a long time. “I always have had low self-esteem due to my weight and appearance,” she said.

Recognizing the fault in fad diets, Esbeidy opted for the more traditional route: hard work at the gym.

And so her fitness journey began about two years ago.

She started going to the gym at least once a day. It definitely wasn’t easy as she was balancing sleep, exercise, school, and work! There are only so many hours, but she says of all the long days: “I got goals to reach.”

And reach them she has!

With cardio, weight-training, and eating healthier overall, Esbeidy lost nearly 80 pounds!

Her rigorous exercise routine includes, “Waking up at 5 am to go to the gym, be at school at 8 am and then go to work until 11 pm.”

But it’s clearly all been worth it, the now-19-year-old says, “I’ve never been this darn happy.”

It’s no mystery that when you feel good about yourself — both inside and out — it shows in how you carry yourself and your overall demeanor.

Esbeidy still hopes to lose a few more pounds to reach her goal of 88 total pounds lost, bringing her down to 135, but we think she’s already won a great victory!
